POSITION TITLE: Summer Camp Counselor

CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal, Full-Time

SALARY RANGE: $130 per day

When you work at our camp this summer, you'll build your resume with outdoor certifications and real-life leadership, communication, and problem-solving experiences employers are looking for-all while getting paid to fill your summer with archery, swimming, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. However you choose to work with us, you'll learn new skills while making a difference in girls' lives. We are looking for team members who are level-headed in all situations, cooperative with fellow team members, and enthusiastic about working with children and young adults in an active indoor/outdoor camp environment.  

Come work with our campers at Camp Edey in Bayport, NY. We offer programs for girls ages 5-14, including a sleepaway camp experience.  

SUMMER CAMP 2026

Camp Edey is located on 95 acres on the beautiful San Souci lakes in Bayport and has been home to amazing Girl Scout outdoor experiences for over 75 years. Our camp has two pools, an archery range, a gaga ball pit, a disc golf course, hiking trails, and a frog-friendly pond. Our summer camp program includes things our girls love, like scavenger hunts, outdoor sports, unique weekly themes, and STEM + Art activities in a safe and fun environment that fosters their sense of adventure. For Girls, Grades 1-9 in Fall 2026. 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Camp Counselor supports the planning and delivery of daily camp activities while supervising and engaging campers in a safe, positive environment. This role promotes camper well-being, maintains schedules and documentation, and works closely with fellow staff and camp leadership to ensure a successful camp experience.

SCHEDULE

  • June 29 - August 28: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM 
  • Staff Training: June 22-26

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with a Co-Counselor to plan and lead small-group or unit activities.
  • Supervise and support a designated group of campers throughout the camp day.
  • Ensure campers follow the daily schedule and arrive on time for activities.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for campers and staff.
  • Monitor camper health and safety at all times.
  • Report accidents or incidents promptly and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain records and submit written reports when requested.
  • Foster professional and supportive relationships with campers and staff.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the camp season.
  • Communicate regularly with the Camp Director regarding camper concerns or issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with children in camp, school, childcare, or youth programs preferred.
  • Ability to work in an active outdoor environment and participate in camp activities.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for campers and fellow staff.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
