Location: Tucson, AZ
Status: Part-Time / Non-Exempt $16.00 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 20-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday approx. 1:30 PM-7:00 PM, Wednesday 1 PM to 6 PM; occasional weekends; Summer Camp Hours- 40 hours per week

Requirements
Position Summary:
The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising youth programming in alignment with BGCT's five core program areas: The Arts, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership Development, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth ages 7-18.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Management
  • Plan and implement engaging activities in BGCT's core program areas.
  • Align daily activities with monthly themes and Club objectives.
  • Actively engage members, volunteers, staff, and parents to enhance program quality.
  • Transport youth safely using a 15-passenger van for field trips, community events, or off-site programming, following all BGCT safety procedures

Leadership
  • Supervise youth groups and manage behavior using BGCT positive youth development practices.
  • Address potential issues and conflicts in accordance with BGCT policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor, encouraging positive choices and personal growth.

Reporting
  • Complete timecards, incident reports, and other program documentation accurately and on time.
  • Provide updates and feedback to the Program Director and suggest improvements for programming.

Safety
  • Always ensure proper supervision of youth.
  • Report and document injuries, maintain a clean and safe environment, and follow all safety protocols.
  • Monitor attendance and ensure youth are accounted for during programming.

Engagement & Environment
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and positive Club environment.
  • Model appropriate behavior and support youth in developing social and emotional skills.
  • Maintain program spaces in a clean, organized, and safe manner.

Please note that general Club operating hours are Monday-Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM, Wednesdays 1 to 6 PM (August-May). Summer hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (June and July).
Qualifications:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate starting at $16.00 per hour (DOE).
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Experience working with youth in a structured setting (classroom, after school, or recreation); minimum six months preferred.
  • Understanding of youth development principles.
  • Commitment to being a positive role model and mentor.
  • Ability to manage youth behavior and lead programming with limited supervision.
  • Capacity to plan, organize, and execute youth-centered activities.
  • Strong Math and English skills (K-12 level).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required (training provided if not yet certified).
  • Must pass criminal background check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment drug screening.
