About Our Family:

We are a busy, friendly family of four, mainly residing in Lincoln Park, Chicago, with a Summer/weekend home in Southwest Michigan. Our household is full of energy, with active twin 5-year-old girls and a dynamic, outgoing lifestyle. Both parents work remotely, one from home and the other from a hybrid co-working space, so our schedule can be a bit varied, but we thrive on both structure and flexibility.

We're social and enjoy hosting friends and family, so our home is often buzzing with visitors. While our kids' live-in au pair handles their daily activities and school pick-ups, we are looking for someone to join our team and support the household in more comprehensive ways, from household organization to helping with errands, events, and backup childcare support as needed.

Our home is well-organized, but we need someone who can keep the systems running smoothly while also taking the initiative to tackle new projects. We love having a tidy, welcoming space, and are looking for someone who can maintain that vibe by being proactive and thoughtful.

In addition to managing household tasks, there's also room for increased responsibility if you have a passion for meal prep, cooking, or supporting with childcare during weekends when our regular help is off. We're looking for someone who will be able to manage both homes, especially during the busy summer months when we spend more time at the Michigan property.

If you're looking for a flexible-yet-organized environment, and enjoy supporting a family with a mix of routine tasks and unique challenges, we would love to meet you.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For:
  • Proactive: You take initiative and see what needs to be done without needing to be told. You're self-sufficient and can manage tasks independently.
  • Organized: You thrive in an organized environment and are comfortable maintaining and improving existing systems. You're detail-oriented and can juggle multiple responsibilities without getting overwhelmed.
  • Flexible: You are adaptable and can adjust to the ever-changing needs of a busy family. You're comfortable with changes in schedule or unexpected tasks.
  • Easygoing & Friendly: You have a warm, approachable personality and are comfortable with a social, bustling household. You enjoy being around people (including kids!) and are open to having friends or family pop by the house.
  • Trustworthy & Reliable: You are someone the family can count on to get things done and keep the home running smoothly, with the ability to anticipate needs before they arise.
  • Comfortable with Pets: While we don't have pets yet, we are considering getting a small/medium dog in the near future, so being comfortable with that is important.
  • Experience with Childcare (a plus): Being comfortable with occasional childcare support, especially on weekends or when the parents travel, would be beneficial.
  • Clear Communicator: You understand the importance of open and transparent communication, ensuring everyone is on the same page and tasks are carried out efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:Household Organization & Maintenance:
  • Maintain household organization systems, including closets, storage, pantry, and toys
  • Tidy and reset rooms daily, ensuring the home is ready for weekly cleaning services
  • Help oversee and communicate closely with weekly cleaners and other service providers as needed
  • Manage seasonal swaps (clothing, decor, bedding)
  • Assist with family events, holidays, and guest stays, including room refresh and kitchen stocking
  • Oversee donation sorting and dropoffs and assists with unpacking/resetting after travel
Inventory & Errands:
  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies
  • Coordinate household orders, unpack and organize deliveries, and dispose of expired items
  • Run errands including grocery shopping, dry cleaning, gift shopping, and returns
  • Handle incoming packages and deliveries (unpack, put away, break down boxes)
Meal Support:
  • For the right candidate with exceptional cooking skills and a true passion for meal preparation, the family is open to expanding hours to include meal planning and in-home cooking support
Laundry & Linens:
  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize parents' laundry
  • Manage linens, rotate bedding, refresh towels, and restock essentials
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
Vehicle Upkeep:
  • Schedule and oversee family vehicle maintenance (maintenance, repairs, charging, cleaning)
Family Support:
  • Backup support for school pick-ups/drop-offs as needed
  • Light supervision and playtime with the children on occasion
  • Additional hours available for candidates who would enjoy providing occasional Saturday evening date-night childcare
Property Management:
  • Oversee upkeep and organization of both the Chicago and Michigan properties
  • Manage vendor and service provider coordination, including scheduling repairs, maintenance, and seasonal upkeep
