Job description

Working under general supervision, this person will perform general carpentry functions. They will fill work requests via the College’s Work Order System. Work hours are determined by the College and are subject to change. Academic-year and summer hours are established to meet the needs of the department and the College. The employee may be required to work some hours beyond the normal schedule, at the discretion of the supervisor and with the supervisor’s approval. This is a temporary position.


EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Four (4) years recent hands-on experience in the carpentry field. Required

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, etc. Required
  • Must be able to work on assignments with little supervision. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Possession of basic computer skill. Preferred

  • Erect wooden building frames, partitions, and roofs. Install exterior and interior trim, moldings, baseboards, doors, door frames, and paneling; lay floors; and perform miscellaneous functions requiring the cutting, shaping, and fastening together of wood or other materials.
  • Work at bench; operate circular and radial saws, planes, shapers, and other mechanical woodworking tools.
  • Lay and repair all types of flooring including, but not limited to ceramic tile, wood strip, LVP, carpet.
  • Perform miscellaneous utility wood cabinet work.
  • Install metal or wooden doors and frames with appropriate hardware.
  • Patch/paint masonry and drywall finishes.

    • Lifting 65 lbs. maximum, without assistance, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
    • May require climbing or working off of ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.

    $25.02 per hour.
