Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:30-2:00pm

Position Summary
The High School Student Summer Academy Support Intern will assist elementary classroom teachers and staff in delivering engaging, safe, and supportive learning experiences for K-5 students during the Summer Academy program. This position provides high school students with valuable work experience and exposure to the field of education, focusing on helping younger students maintain and build academic and social-emotional skills in a fun, summer environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Assistance: Support the lead teacher with day-to-day classroom management and instruction. This includes preparing materials, organizing supplies, distributing student work, and tidying the classroom space.
- Student Support: Work one-on-one or with small groups of elementary students to reinforce academic concepts (e.g., reading, math activities) as directed by the teacher.
- Activity Facilitation: Actively participate in and supervise students during non-instructional times, such as recess, lunch, transition periods, and planned activities.
- Mentorship and Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model for elementary students by demonstrating appropriate behavior, enthusiasm for learning, and respect for others.
- Communication: Assist teachers by relaying important messages or helping with basic communication tasks, ensuring a smooth flow of information.
- Program Operations: Help with setup and breakdown of program spaces and assist with special events or field trips as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a high school student (preferably rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grader).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the entire duration of the Summer Academy schedule.
- Demonstrated interest in working with young children and a positive, patient attitude.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Successfully complete required background checks and program orientation prior to the start date.
