Position Information
Position Title Assistant Men and Women's Track and Field Cross Country Coach Job Description
The Assistant M/W Cross Country Track & Field Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with various aspects of program administration and work specifically with the Field Events (throws, jumps and vault). The assistant coach will be responsible for all facets of the development, training and recruitment of Field Event athletes for both the men and women programs. A strong, well-rounded knowledge of all Field Events and previous coaching/recruiting experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
Duties include assisting the head coach with directing, coordinating, planning, organizing and coaching of Mississippi Valley State University's (MVSU) men and women cross country/track and field program; provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes at MVSU; primary duties in track & field will be throws, jumps and vault coach; recruitment of quality student-athletes (academically and athletically); meet day preparation; study, evaluate and implement innovations in the sport of cross country/track and Field strategy and use of equipment; demonstrate professional integrity; camps, clinics and fundraising; promotional and public relations activities; speaking engagements and media interviews; administration and coaching of summer camps; knowledge of NCAA Division I rules compliance and compliance assistance software; NCAA, SWAC (Conference), and University policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; Two years of successful coaching experience or a combination of experience; experience as a member of cross country/track and field summer camps; must have a high degree of ethical standards to include adherence to general rules of safety and procedures; high professional standards to include professional development. Ability to lift at least 50lbs and move track and field equipment.
