This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Provide general research support within the Department of Chemistry in the Schmid College of Science & Technology by assisting with literature reviews, laboratory research, catalyst synthesis, and experimental equipment development. Support ongoing research projects through data collection and analysis, procurement of research materials, preparation of project reports, budget monitoring, and collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team to advance scientific discovery and project objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research.
  • Procure equipment and supplies necessary for project activities.
  • Design and construct research equipment.
  • Synthesize and prepare catalysts for experimentation.
  • Attend project meetings and contribute to research discussions.
  • Summarize and report research findings.
  • Prepare progress reports for the Principal Investigator.
  • Monitor and track project budget expenditures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Little to no prior experience required.
  • Ability to learn and apply departmental processes, procedures, and research methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a research or laboratory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
