Here, your unique talents and ambitions are amplified by the power of our collaborative teams, innovative thinking, and mentorship. When you join Deloitte, you don't just build a career-you unlock unlimited opportunities, shaping your future and the world around you. Take the power of you and put it to the power of Deloitte. Reach your exponential!
Recruiting for this role ends on 12/01/2026.
Work You'll Do
As a Software Engineering Summer Scholar you'll develop practical skills in agile methodologies, DevOps, cloud-native development, and modern software engineering best practices, including AI-led engineering. We provide ongoing learning opportunities, mentorship, and access to a wide range of projects and industries-ensuring you'll always have new challenges to tackle and skills to master.
Whether you aspire to be a hands-on technical architect, a cloud integration expert, a DevOps specialist, or another technical leader, Deloitte will support your ambitions. We promise you'll never run out of challenges to learn and grow.
In this role, you'll apply your engineering mindset to real-world software product development across a diverse set of industries. You'll progress on a technical career path that enables you to grow into advanced engineering roles, with the flexibility to pivot across different areas of software development. You will work in an AI-native engineering practice where AI tools are a core part of the development workflow, not a side tool - used daily for implementation, debugging, refactoring, and review. Whether you aspire to be a hands-on technical architect, a cloud integration expert, a DevOps specialist, or another technical leader, Deloitte will support your ambitions. We promise you'll never run out of challenges to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within agile scrum teams to design, build, and deploy scalable software solutions
- Develop cloud-native applications using platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, leveraging microservices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Use AI tools as a core part of the daily development workflow - for implementation, debugging, refactoring, test generation, and code review - applying strong engineering judgment to prompt, steer, and validate AI-generated code in production systems.
- Implement DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, to streamline and automate software delivery
- Apply test-driven development (TDD) and integrate security best practices (DevOps) throughout the software lifecycle
- Use modern collaboration and version control tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
- Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, and frameworks, often in a hybrid work setting, as part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment
You will tackle complex problems, potentially in a hybrid setting, for our clients while collaborating with team members from diverse backgrounds and experiences to build full-stack cloud applications using the latest cloud technologies in a dynamic and agile environment.
The Team
Our Deloitte team plays a major role in directly embedding technology insights into our clients' organizational goals. At Deloitte, our consultants create sharply-focused solutions within an organization's operating model, accounting for its people, intellectual capital, technology, and processes. Engagement teams at Deloitte drive value for our clients but also understand the importance of developing resources and contributing to the communities in which we work. We make it our business to take issue to impact, both within and beyond a client setting.
Required Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and expected to graduate by Spring/Summer 2028 pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related/equivalent program
- Strong foundation with Computer Science (CS) subjects such as Software Engineering, Software Development, Programming Languages, Data Structures, Algorithms Design & Analysis, Operating Systems & System Programming, or Computer Architecture
- Programming abilitywith at least one modern language like Java, C++, C#, Python as well as familiarity with object-oriented design
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using Claude Code (or a comparable agentic coding tool) as a core part of your daily engineering practice - not just familiarity, but experience with prompting, steering, and validating AI-generated code
- Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment
- You must reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required
This is an entry-level opportunity intended for candidates interested in beginning or building a career in this field.
