Job description

WLWT TV, the Hearst Television owned NBC affiliate in Cincinnati is recruiting college students for our 10-week, paid summer internship program, which provides a hands-on professional learning experience, with an emphasis on Broadcast Television Sales and Advertising. The WLWT Internship Program is administered through in-person training and shadowing of Sales Managers, Account Executives and Support Specialists. Application deadline is February 13, 2026. Students must have junior, senior or graduate studies level status to apply.

Interns are introduced to every aspect of the sales operation, including but not limited to:


Sales: 

  • Shadow client specialists
  • Shadow digital account manager. 
  • Shadow national sales department. 
  • Monitor and assist in client prospecting.
  • Monitor and assist in research of target accounts/categories for upcoming client presentations.
  • Monitor and assist in creation of sales materials.
  • Assist in fielding phone calls.
  • Shadow and assist sales professionals in the field. 


Commercial Production: 

  • Monitor and assist with script writing/brainstorming new commercial ideas.
  • May shadow commercial production crew in the field during commercial shoot.
  • May shadow commercial production crew during editing process.

Research:

  • Learn basics of Cincinnati media.
  • Monitor and assist in researching market and industry changes.
  • May shadow research director during programming/research/informational meetings. 

Successful Completion of Internship:

  • After completing the internship, the intern should understand the role of the sales department in broadcast television and understand the advertising solutions broadcasters can offer to local clients.
  • Perform a mock sales presentation as the final project.

Standard Practice for All Interns: 

  • Attend as many sales meetings, including sales consultant, sales research, and any sales vendor meetings, as possible.

  • Attend as many sales team functions as possible. 

  • Observe and actively engage with sales team to develop skills for a sales career.
