Job description

The Fey Lab at Reed College is looking for a Research Assistant to work on an NSF funded project aimed at understanding the ecological consequences of thermal refuges. You will be working in both a field and lab setting to explore ecological questions, exploring the consequences of variation in environmental conditions for amphibian, fish, zooplankton, and phytoplankton populations. As a part of a research team, strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work in teams is required. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the data analysis and writing of scientific manuscripts, which require experience/knowledge of scientific writing and communication. This role reports to Professor Samuel Fey.

Reed College offers an exceptional benefits package, including comprehensive medical and dental insurance options, 403(b) retirement plan with 10% employer contribution (after one year of service), educational assistance for employees and their children, paid vacation, paid holidays, half-day Fridays in the summer, and many other campus amenities. This is a full-time, one year appointment with the possibility of extension. Typical work hours are M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one hour unpaid lunch.

The starting pay for this position is $XX/hour. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an overtime eligible position in the Research pay grade.
