Your Key Responsibilities
The Co-op will be assigned an engineering project aligned with Schaeffler's current research and development initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments. In addition, the Co-op will collaborate closely with the engineering team on a daily basis, contributing to a range of innovative and technically challenging projects.
  • Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection, in contributing to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems (e.g., selection of mirco-processors, sensors, actuators, DAQ devices, signal processing circuits for HiL test environments)
  • Perform data analysis in supporting system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement efforts, calibration, triage and validation activities
  • Develop (i.e., architect, design, implement, validate, and parameterize) algorithms to enable intended system function in coordination with stakeholder and application requirements
  • Interfacing teams - effectively communicate with these cross functional teams in order to effectively complete assigned tasks
  • Need to be responsible, able to work independently, and open to instruction
  • S/he will be given developmental opportunities through tasks such as projects, job-rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler's technological processes

Your Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication ability (written &verbal)
  • Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results
  • Assertive approach to solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize
  • The ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods, and lift and move thirty pounds
  • SAE collegiate competition team (Formula, Baja, etc.) preferred
  • 3D CAD modeling and software preferred
  • Mechanical hobbyist preferred
