Job description

Description

As a Christian ministry, we have the privilege of sharing the joy of Jesus with
everyone who comes to Camp Timber-lee. Part of that joy is having a
beautiful 600+ acre camp where people come to find a respite in their daily
lives.

Serves as an instructor, program facilitator, and host within Timber-lee's
various programs that include summer camp, retreats, outdoor education,
and others. Responsible for execution of pre and post-Timber-lee experience
planning and preparations. Participates in departmental and camp-wide
projects and routine assignments to care for departmental and camp assets
and facilities. Participates in and responsible for assisting in overall camp
ministry planning.


  • Instruct activities, including classes on various topics of natural history,
    sciences, and natural resources.
  • Assists with creating and developing instructional resources, including
    curriculum, class resources, display boards, etc., for all Science Center
    classes and activities.
  • Assist with the care of equipment, departmental infrastructure, and
    land management activities.

  • Assist in other camp-wide tasks and opportunities as assigned.

  • Understands and exhibits and understands behaviors and skills needed to function and be accountable in a team environment.
  • Passion for people, learning new things, and a sense of adventure.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid drivers license

Positional

  • Required to live on grounds in same gender, shared dorm style housing.
  • College degree required. Degrees in education, natural sciences including biology, ecology, environmental studies, and other similar programs preferred.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at least 50 feet.
  • Capable of working with, caring for, and handling various small animals used in teaching units, including birds, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, etc.
  • Evenings and weekends required.
  • Ability to perform a mixture of indoor and outdoor work.
  • Able to work on feet for long periods of time.
  • Able to work in an allergen-rich environment with little, if any, impact on work performance.
  • Able to traverse the multi-terrain campground during all seasons.
  • Field experience in biology, ecology, natural resource management, or working with living displays and associated systems is a plus.
