Title: Pilot Summer Academy Teaching Fellow 

Reports To: Pilot Summer Academy Camp Director 

Job Classification: Seasonal, Non-Exempt 

Term: June 11 to July 17 - Approximately 20 hours/week.

Position OverviewThe Teaching Fellow is a seasonal, on-site position responsible for teaching and facilitating STEAM rotations such as science, robotics, PTV, art, dance, and outdoor adventure. Teaching Fellows lead hands-on lessons and activities, support camper learning and engagement, and contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive camp environment. This role works collaboratively with counselors, junior counselors, and the Camp Director, and plays an important part in fulfilling the camp's mission to provide meaningful, enriching experiences for all campers.Essential ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
  • Teach and facilitate daily STEAM rotations (science, robotics, PTV, art, dance, and outdoor adventure)
  • Plan, prepare, and guide hands-on lessons and activities that are engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with camp goals
  • Create a positive learning environment where campers feel supported, encouraged, and successful
  • Model leadership, curiosity, and teamwork during all activities
  • Supervise campers during instructional time, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior
  • Collaborate with counselors and other staff to ensure smooth transitions and activity flow
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with campers, colleagues, and families when needed
  • Help maintain organized learning spaces and materials, including set-up and clean-up
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings
  • Support the overall mission and culture of the camp through professionalism, enthusiasm, and a willingness to help where needed


Required Documents & Pre-Employment Requirements:Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references from current or former supervisors. Candidates must also provide official transcripts, a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, complete required training, and successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon obtaining fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Required Qualifications
  • Current or recent graduate of OLP student, age 16 or older
  • Interest in teaching, mentoring, or working with children
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Responsible, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and lead activities with confidence
  • Must be available for all training dates and full camp sessions. Training will take place on June 11, 2026 and June 12, 2026 from 8 am to 4 pm. Camp runs from June 15, 2026 through June 17, 2026 from 8 am to 4 pm
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children (tutoring, volunteering, mentoring, coaching, or camps)
  • Interest or background in STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art, dance, robotics, PTV, etc.)
  • Comfortable with public speaking or leading groups
  • Familiarity with classroom management and hands-on instruction
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
