Job description

Natural Habitat Adventures (Nat Hab), a nature-focused global adventure travel company based in Louisville, Colorado, is seeking an Adventure Gear Specialist. This role supports the Director of Adventure Gear in managing and strengthening Natural Habitat Adventures' gear operations, with a particular focus on technology, reporting, process improvement and project coordination. The Adventure Gear Specialist serves as the day-to-day lead for technical and analytical initiatives within Nat Hab's internal and external gear stores, including identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the development of new tools and processes. They also support the Director of Adventure Gear throughout the full lifecycle of gear strategy for guests and staff—from procurement and product development to fulfillment and guest relations—while collaborating cross-functionally to drive innovation and operational efficiency.


This is a full-time, exempt position based in Boulder, Colorado. This role follows a hybrid work schedule and requires regular in-office attendance. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage development, improvement, testing and maintenance of all of Nat Hab’s online gear stores (internal and external) with in-house and third-party web teams
  • Build and maintain reporting related to gear sales, purchasing, costs, inventory and program participation
  • Analyze gear data to identify trends and support purchasing, forecasting and budget decisions
  • Identify, recommend and execute technology and process improvements for the gear program and online stores
  • Manage assigned gear initiatives and projects in collaboration with the Director of Adventure Gear, Design Team, vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Support product research, development, procurement, pricing, branding and sustainability review
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding product specifications, samples, pricing, production and delivery timelines
  • Support guest and employee needs related to products, orders, frequent traveler benefits, refunds, returns, exchanges and gift cards
  • Reconcile monthly credit card charges, investigate fraud issues, and approve vendor invoices for Finance team
  • Partner with Inventory Manager and Fulfillment Team to align stock levels, logistics, and delivery timelines
  • Maintain gear-related web content, product information, costs, purchase orders and operational documentation
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects to align gear operations with organizational objectives
  • Provide operational backup and support to the Director of Adventure Gear
  • Assist the Fulfillment Team with organizing, packing and shipping as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in e-commerce, product development, purchasing, project management, merchandising or business operations
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting e-commerce platforms
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable learning new technology and working with technical partners
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project and time management skills
  • Able to independently manage assigned work, solve problems and meet deadlines
  • Self-sufficient, decisive, and proactive in problem-solving and project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for delivering a remarkable guest experience
  • Collaborative and supportive, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external vendors
  • Committed to sustainability and environmentally responsible purchasing practices
  • Experience with outdoor gear, branded merchandise or custom product development preferred
  • Experience with FileMaker-based systems preferred
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds

COMPENSATION

Starting salary: $65,000-$70,000 plus an annual bonus. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. (Per Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, employers must include compensation ranges in job postings.) This is a full-time, exempt position.

LOCATION & TRAVEL

This is a hybrid position based in our Louisville, Colorado office. Employees are expected to work on-site at least 50% of the workweek.

In addition, all employees are required to attend one annual company-wide, in-person staff week, as well as one additional in-office week each year scheduled by their department.

This policy may be modified at the company's discretion based on business needs.

WORKING HOURS

Our standard company hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM MT. On Saturdays, we operate from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with coverage provided by select members of our guest-facing teams. Additional hours may be required, as needed, to achieve your goals and support business needs.
