Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
To lead and/or participate on projects that result in lower cost, increased capacity and improved capabilities of product.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering-level support to manufacturing operations internationally
    Solve process issues through rigorous data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
    Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues.
    Provide trend analysis of key metrics and implement response plans.
    Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products
    Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects.
    Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment.
    Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions.
    Provide leadership or support for startup of new equipment lines.
    Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
    Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work within a team and provide training to others.
    Ability to allocate/supervise resources to accomplish goals.
    Travel Requirements: Up to 20-25% domestic and international
    Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8-10 hours/day; 40-50 hours/week.

Experiences/Education - Required
BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Electrical or Ceramic Engineering
Required Years and Area of Experience: 2+ years' experience in Manufacturing Environment.
Required Skills:
Strong data analysis and statistical skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Microsoft Access and statistical packages such as Minitab, JMP, SPCXL a plus.
Experience with experimental design.
Ability to use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively
Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization in a multinational setting across different cultures.

The range for this position is $84,932.00 - $116,782.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
