Summer Open Interviews information

What are summer open interviews?

Summer Open Interviews are hiring events typically held by employers during the summer months, where candidates can attend without a prior appointment to interview for available seasonal or permanent positions. These events are designed to streamline the hiring process by allowing candidates to meet with hiring managers on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees often have the chance to interview for multiple roles, learn more about the company, and potentially receive job offers on the spot. They are commonly used for filling roles that have high demand during the summer, such as retail, camps, or hospitality positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in summer open interviews, and why are they important?

To thrive in Summer Open Interviews, candidates typically need strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and relevant experience or education for the roles being offered. Familiarity with common application systems, resume formats, and interview platforms (virtual or in-person) is often expected. Confidence, adaptability, and the ability to think on your feet help candidates stand out during rapid or group interview processes. These qualities are crucial because they demonstrate readiness for immediate employment and the ability to make a positive first impression in competitive hiring environments.

What should I expect during a summer open interview event, and how can I best prepare?

During a Summer Open Interview, you'll typically meet with recruiters or hiring managers in a less formal setting than a traditional interview. These events often involve multiple candidates and may include brief one-on-one conversations, group activities, or informational sessions about the company. To make a strong impression, bring multiple copies of your resume, dress professionally, and be ready to introduce yourself clearly and confidently. Research the company beforehand and prepare thoughtful questions to demonstrate your interest. Open Interviews are a great opportunity to network and learn more about available roles and company culture.

Job description

CornerStone's Investment Intern Program offers a unique opportunity to do meaningful investment work, learn valuable technical skills, and work closely with the senior members of an investment organization. Our program welcomes all majors and is well suited for students who are:
  • Interested in investing
  • Interested in furthering their technical training
  • Self-starters and team players
  • Open-minded, teachable, and eager to learn

CornerStone's Intern Program requires a two-month commitment (June - July 2027) which gives Interns exposure to a broad spectrum of asset classes and investment strategies. Our program is project based and culminates in a firm-wide presentation at the end of the summer.
Interns are immersed as members of the investment team and work on projects that are considered important to the ongoing success of the investment portfolio. Projects are ultimately selected and assigned based on a combination of firm needs and the skill set of the individual Intern. All Interns complete an Excel and financial modeling training program and have significant networking opportunities throughout the summer. We also offer Interns the opportunity to obtain the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification through completion of a self-paced course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets and the Bloomberg Terminal.
We work collaboratively with our Interns, over the course of their summer with us and beyond, to help identify their desired next steps and help them achieve their goals. This is a paid internship and offers the option to work remotely. Following the end of the program, Interns may be considered for our full-time Investment Analyst program.
