Position Overview

The Summer Camp Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of camp and serves as the on-site leader throughout the summer season. This role requires a hands-on, dependable individual who can take ownership of camp operations while fostering a positive, calm, and family-oriented environment for campers and staff. While leadership will provide programming support and guidance, the Camp Director will be the primary decision-maker on site and accountable for ensuring camp runs smoothly, responsibly, and safely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise camp counselors and support staff
  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of all camp operations
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for staff, campers, and families
  • Address and resolve issues as they arise with sound judgment and professionalism
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with leadership regarding camp operations, staffing, and concerns
  • Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all campers
  • Set and maintain a respectful, family-oriented tone for staff and campers
  • Support individuals with special needs, including managing behaviors in a compassionate and appropriate manner
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong leadership, organization, and decision-making abilities
  • Comfortable supervising staff, providing direction, and holding team members accountable
