Job description

JOB SUMMARY: This job serves as an enhancement to other services provided through the Pinellas Support Team. Tutor will access problem areas and provide tutoring services to increase learning. This position will provide services: in-home, in-school, or in a community setting convenient for the family.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ø Tutor will schedule regular visits for assigned child.

Ø Tutor will encourage and reinforce school engagement and ongoing communication with children’s school.

Ø Tutor will assist child to improve academic skill(s) and target improvement of 20% in subject area(s) found to be below grade level or skill level to enter school.

Ø Tutor will assist and model for parent(s) methods of assisting child with education goals (i.e. homework skills, reading skills, school readiness).

Ø Tutor will model appropriate adult-child interactions.

Ø Tutor will complete assessment and utilize the program’s standardized academic scales to determine baseline performance (pre-score) in deficient subject areas of reading, writing, or math.

Ø Tutor will complete progress notes documenting services and progress in identified problem areas.

Ø Tutor will complete post-score assessment and utilize the program’s standardized academic scales to determine performance in deficient subject areas of reading, writing, or math at closure.

Ø Tutor will participate in literacy campaign and summer reading program.

Ø Tutor will attend monthly QA meetings.

Ø Tutor will communicate regularly with PST program.

Ø Tutor will coordinate activities with PST program to address specified goal identified in support plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, with a teacher’s certification and two years’ experience working in a school or two years’ experience providing direct tutoring services.

Licenses & Certifications:

Valid Florida driver's license and be insurable by our current insurance carrier.

Insurance Coverage Requirements:

Must carry Workman’s Compensation Insurance or be a LLC and receive a State Exemption from being

required to carry.

Professional Liability insurance is recommended but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Possess effective organizational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors and other individuals. Possess effective interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of agency's organizational structure, standard operating procedures, and policies.
