Job description

Overview
The College of Sciences and Mathematics hosts a variety of science and robotics camps targeting elementary and middle school students. Our program allows participants to explore the world of science through experiments, technology, art projects, and hands-on activities. Our camp counselors help bring summer camps to life by assisting certified teachers in the classroom, mentoring, and ensuring students are safe and supervised.
Camps are offered weekdays during the months of June and July, with options beginning in May to assist with staging rooms and prepping for camp.
Responsibilities
  • Part-time and full-time positions available.
  • Serving as a mentor to 20-22 elementary or middle school students.
  • Facilitating activities and snacks for students.
  • Transporting students to and from the car-line to the Haley Center.
  • Engaging with students during recess.
  • Ensuring students are safe and supervised at all times.
  • Maintaining contact with the program director.

Qualifications
Enrolled student at Auburn University
Must be available for the full 6-week camp schedule:
  • 6/1-6/5 (mostly preparation with a few camps)
  • 6/8-6/12
  • 6/15-6/19 (camp is held on Juneteenth)
  • 6/22-6/26
  • 7/6-7/10 (fewer camp options this week)
  • 7/13-7/17

Hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break (specific time to be assigned). Additional hours may be required for setup and teardown in the two weeks before and the week after camp.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Responsible and reliable students who are enthusiastic about working with 1-9 graders.
  • Must be 19 years of age on June 1, 2026.
  • Experience interacting with or teaching elementary and/or school students.
  • Individuals who will serve as good role-models/mentors for 1-9 graders.
