Job description

Flow Traders is looking for entrepreneurial, competitive, and analytical students to join our New York Trading team as a Trading Intern for Summer 2027. Spend your summer experiencing what it's like to be a Trader in the financial capital of the world!
The trading internship will take place over nine weeks in our New York office, beginning in early June through early August. During the program, you will have the opportunity to explore your interest in trading, while being fully immersed in the excitement on our Trading floor. As an intern, you will get a 360-degree view of Flow Traders' role in the financial markets, how our Traders seize arbitrage opportunities, and how they work together as a team to optimize and improve their desk. Together with your intern class, you will solve problems, participate in trading simulations, and work on trading projects with our traders.
No prior experience is required. We're looking for individuals who are passionate about trading and eager to learn how to apply their quantitative skills in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

  • Learn directly from industry leaders on the New York trading floor
  • Participate in structured educational courses and hands-on trading simulations
  • Develop and test trading strategies through project-based work using quantitative models and trading tools
  • Collaborate with Traders and Quantitative Researchers to solve real-world trading challenges
  • Gain in-depth exposure to Flow Traders' core business and market-making activities
  • Engage in intern events and become an integral part of our collaborative "One Team" culture

What You Need to Succeed

  • Candidate for a Bachelor's degree studying in the United States with a major in Finance, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics or related
  • Class of 2028, preferred
  • Demonstrable interest in trading and global financial markets
  • Excellent mental math, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and an affinity for scientific programming or development languages
  • Ability to think on your feet, reason logically and deliver under pressure
  • Innovative and creative with an entrepreneurial and competitive mindset
  • Attracted to a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment that offers great challenges and rewards

Please note that the final round interview for this position will be in a superday format. You will also be required to report in-person for this position at our New York office. Flow Traders will assist with housing and accommodations.

Our internship program has limited space; once all positions are filled, the recruitment process will close. We highly suggest that you start your application process as soon as possible as the entire recruitment process can take between 5-10 weeks.

At Flow Traders, we acknowledge the importance of open and transparent communication whether it be with our employees, our stakeholders, or our local and global communities. When it comes to salary, Flow Traders uses reliable market research to create base ranges. Where candidates will fall within the range depends on a few different factors including but not limited to level of experience, location, and specific skill set. We also consider ourselves one global team, and to demonstrate that, all employees are eligible to share in the company's success through an annual discretionary variable remuneration allocated based on company, group and individual performance and contribution. Per the NYC Salary Transparency Law, the total compensation for this role includes a prorated base salary of $150,000.

Students enrolled in a university or college within the United States are welcome to apply to the New York Trading Internship. A similar program is offered in our Amsterdam and Hong Kong offices for students studying or living in Europe and APAC.

Flow Traders does not accept unsolicited resumes from any professional staffing or search firms. All resumes, and any other information identifying potential candidates, submitted to any employee at Flow Traders via-email, the Internet or directly without a valid and signed search agreement will be deemed free to contact by Flow Traders without any restrictions and no placement fee of any kind will be paid in the event the candidate is hired by Flow Traders.
