Position Purpose

The PTECH Summer Bridge Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of summer instruction designed to support incoming PTECH students before the start of the fall semester. The program focuses on strengthening foundational mathematics and physics skills, reviewing key academic concepts, and preparing students for success in STEM-related coursework. The instructor will create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes academic confidence, critical thinking, and college readiness skills for students entering the PTECH program. The instructor performs all other duties as directed by program leadership.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

- to coordinate and instruct summer bridge coursework for incoming PTECH students

-to review and reinforce foundational concepts in mathematics and physics that are essential for fall coursework success; -to develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and enrichment activities appropriate f or high school students entering STEM pathways.

-to create an approved course syllabus and teach all courses at a level appropriate for assigned students

-to support students in developing problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and study skills

-to keep active at a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulate enthusiasm for STEM learning

-to ensure that each course contains essential curricular components, appropriate instructional methods, and engaging hands-on learning activities

-to keep students informed concerning course content, assignments, attendance requirements, and evaluation procedures

-to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and academic support

-to maintain accurate and complete records, including attendance and student participation

-to ensure that assigned classes and tutoring sessions are held as scheduled

-to collaborate with program leadership regarding curriculum improvements and student support strategies

-to participate in program meetings, curriculum review, and student learning outcomes initiatives

-to incorporate instructional technologies as a mode of lesson delivery

-to refer students to program leadership and counselors as needed.

Compensation: $3000 stipend.
