Contract to Hire Senior Java Engineer with Low Latency in Java Multithreading, Socket Programming & AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI) - Hybrid Onsite in Boston or Needham MA  
Location: Occasionally working out of Needham is fine but it is based in Boston
(Open to W2 and CTC contractors - visa sponsorship available!) 
**MUST HAVE**
• A STRONG passion for AI and ideally 10+ years of experience in Java-based systems development (Java 11+; current stack Java 21).Good understanding of core java APIs.
• Solid understanding of concurrency, multi-threading, and high-performance systems. Low Latency in Java Multithreading, Socket Latency, Network socket programming in Java , strong hands on with low level architecture and how the systems operate. 
• Experience with Spring, SpringBoot and building REST APIs
• Exposure to WebSockets and performance testing (e.g., JMeter) is a plus
• Hands-on experience using GenAI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex)
• Ability to use AI tools effectively for coding, debugging, and problem-solving
• Interest in or exposure to AI-driven / agentic workflows
• Strong problem-solving skills, including breaking down work into AI-augmentable tasks
• Growth mindset with a focus on continuous learning and experimentation
• Comfortable adapting to evolving tools, practices, and technologies
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
This role combines strong backend engineering with modern AI assisted development practices. We are looking for engineers who can effectively leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) across the SDLC—design, development, testing, and production support—to deliver high-quality, scalable systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborates well across teams, and continuously adapts to evolving technologies and workflows.
