What is a summer internship printing?

Summer Internship Printing positions are temporary roles offered to students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience in the printing industry during the summer months. These internships typically involve learning about various printing processes, operating printing equipment, assisting with production, and understanding the workflow of a print shop. Interns gain valuable industry knowledge, practical skills, and exposure to potential career paths in printing, graphic design, or production management. Summer internships can also help participants build a professional network and enhance their resumes for future employment opportunities.

What types of projects and hands-on experiences can I expect during a summer internship in printing?

As a Summer Intern in Printing, you can expect to participate in a variety of hands-on projects, such as assisting with pre-press file preparation, operating basic printing equipment under supervision, and supporting quality control checks. Interns often work closely with experienced press operators, designers, and production managers, gaining insight into the full print production workflow. This role offers opportunities to learn about different printing technologies, troubleshooting common printing issues, and understanding the logistics of large-scale print jobs. Regular collaboration with team members and exposure to real client projects provide a valuable foundation for anyone considering a career in the printing industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a summer internship printing intern, and why are they important?

These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring high-quality output, meeting deadlines, and gaining valuable industry experience.

Job description

Information Technology (IT) Intern

As an Information Technology (IT) Intern at Mewbourne Oil Company, you will gain hands-on experience providing frontline technology support to employees across our office and field locations. Working closely with the IT Helpdesk and other members of the IT team, you will assist employees with hardware, software, connectivity, mobile device, and other day-to-day technology needs.

This internship provides practical experience in troubleshooting technical issues, preparing and deploying computers and other equipment, supporting user accounts and applications, and helping ensure employees have the technology they need to work effectively. Interns will learn how a professional IT support organization manages incidents and service requests, documents solutions, escalates issues, and delivers responsive customer service.

While the primary focus of the internship is Helpdesk and end-user support, interns will also have opportunities to work with and learn from other areas of IT, including networking, cybersecurity, business applications, data and analytics, and infrastructure. This broader exposure will help interns understand how the different functions within IT work together to support the company.

Interns are encouraged to ask questions, take ownership of assignments, develop relationships with employees throughout the company, and build both the technical and customer-service skills required for a successful career in information technology.

Key Learning Opportunities

  • Provide frontline Helpdesk support for employees across multiple office and field locations.
  • Troubleshoot common hardware, software, connectivity, printing, mobile device, and peripheral issues.
  • Assist with the setup, configuration, deployment, replacement, and maintenance of laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including equipment preparation, account access, and technology orientation.
  • Create, update, track, and resolve Helpdesk tickets while learning effective incident and service-request management practices.
  • Work directly with employees to diagnose technology issues, communicate solutions, and provide a positive customer-service experience.
  • Install and support commonly used business applications and assist users with application-related issues.
  • Document technical solutions, support procedures, equipment configurations, and recurring issues to improve Helpdesk efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Learn when and how to escalate issues to networking, cybersecurity, application support, infrastructure, and other IT specialists.
  • Gain exposure to cybersecurity practices, identity and access management, endpoint security, networking, cloud technologies, and enterprise business applications.
  • Assist with IT projects related to workstation deployments, technology upgrades, inventory management, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with employees in Accounting, Engineering, Land, Geology, Operations, and other departments to understand their technology needs and how IT supports the business.
  • Complete a summer project and present findings and recommendations to company leadership.

What Makes Mewbourne's Internship Unique

Mewbourne Oil Company provides IT interns with the opportunity to work directly with employees and technology in a real-world business environment. Rather than simply observing, interns become active members of the IT team and gain practical experience solving problems, supporting users, deploying technology, and contributing to projects.

Because IT supports employees across both office and field operations, interns gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and business functions while developing the technical, communication, and problem-solving skills required for a career in IT. The internship also provides opportunities to interact with experienced professionals throughout the IT organization and learn about potential career paths beyond the Helpdesk.
