About the Department:

The Programs Department oversees the strategic allocation andutilizationof resources for humanitarian and development projects in over 30 countries, ensuring compliance as a registered charity. This involves aspects of administration, proposal development, project management, and remote and in-personmonitoringand evaluation, to name a few. Program staff excel in proactive problem-solving and stakeholder management, capable of navigating diverse needs and ensuring effective communication.

Job Purpose:

The Domestic Programs Intern will supportIslamic Relief Canada(IRC)'s Domestic Programs team by researching funding opportunities,assistingwith outreach to potential partners and donors, and providing administrative support to help advance IRC's domestic programmingobjectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a focused scan of domestic funding opportunities thatalignswith IRC's Domestic Programs Strategy.

  • Identifypotential funders such as governments (municipal, provincial, federal), corporations, community foundations, and family foundations.

  • Summarize eligibility, priorities, deadlines, and strategic alignment.

  • Prepare a simple funding pipeline to organize findings.

  • Support the Partnerships Manager and team in reaching out to selected organizations or donors to introduce IRC's domestic work.

  • Keep research files organized.Assistwith meeting notes, scheduling, and preparing briefing summaries.

  • Support the broader department with administrative tasks.

Qualifications & Competencies

Experience:

  • Experience in research, administration, community outreach, fundraising, or related areas (professional, volunteer, or academic experience accepted).

  • Experience preparing summaries, reports, or organized documentation is an asset.

  • Experience coordinating tasks or supporting projects with multiple stakeholders is beneficial.

Knowledge,Skillsand Attributes:

  • Strong research and analytical abilities.

  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong organizational skills and ability tomaintainstructured records.

  • Interestin program development, fundraising, and the nonprofit sector.

As this is a Canada Summer Jobs position, all applicants must meet eligibility guidelines as specified by Service Canadain order tobe considered for the above position:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

Hybrid Work Policy:

IRC has a hybrid model where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional office (Surrey, Edmonton,Calgaryand Ottawa). Depending on where you live, this can range fromtwo days a week to one day a month.
