Position Summary:

The Summer Camp Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for children participating in the Ukrainian Summer Camp 2026. The role focuses on supporting childrenโ€™s social, emotional, cultural, and educational development through structured activities that promote cultural exchange, creativity, and community building.

Position Description:

The Summer Camp Teacher will work under the Ukrainian Refugee School Impact Grant initiative and is responsible for implementing daily educational and recreational programming for children. This includes fostering a positive group environment, supporting childrenโ€™s well-being, and actively participating in cultural, educational, and recreational activities designed to promote integration, creativity, and intercultural understanding.

Required Qualifications (must be met at time of hire):

โ€ข High School Diploma or equivalent (required); additional education in education, child development, or related field preferred

โ€ข Be 18 years old

โ€ข Experience working with children in educational, camp, or community settings

โ€ข Strong communication and teamwork skills

โ€ข Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment

โ€ข Fluency in Ukrainian and functional English preferred

โ€ข Valid Ohio driverโ€™s license and authorization to work

โ€ข Must successfully complete background check in accordance with Ohio law (ODJFS)

General Expectations:

โ€ข Work cooperatively with camp staff, administrators, families, and community partners

โ€ข Maintain accurate attendance, activity logs, and incident reports as required

โ€ข Ensure safety and supervision of children at all times

โ€ข Follow all USCRI policies, procedures, and child protection guidelines

โ€ข Participate in scheduled training, planning meetings, and staff meetings

โ€ข Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times

Essential Duties:

โ€ข Plan, lead, and supervise daily camp activities for assigned age group

โ€ข Facilitate educational, cultural, recreational, and team-building activities

โ€ข Support childrenโ€™s social-emotional development through positive behavior guidance

โ€ข Encourage cultural exchange and appreciation of Ukrainian and American traditions

โ€ข Monitor and ensure child safety, well-being, and participation in all activities

โ€ข Communicate with camp leadership regarding student needs, concerns, or incidents

โ€ข Assist in organizing special events, field activities, and group presentations

โ€ข Support inclusive participation of children of varying backgrounds and abilities

Functions:

โ€ข Implement camp activities

โ€ข Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff

โ€ข Promote teamwork, respect, and cultural understanding among participants

โ€ข Support language development and communication in diverse groups

โ€ข Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth daily operations

โ€ข Support transition of children between activities and maintain structured routines

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

โ€ข Ability to engage and motivate children in group settings

โ€ข Strong communication and interpersonal skills

โ€ข Ability to manage groups of children in a safe and structured environment

โ€ข Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

โ€ข Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

โ€ข Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic camp environments

โ€ข Ability to follow instructions and implement structured programming
