Known for helping consumers celebrate Thanksgiving, Butterball also brings delicious turkey products to tables around the world every day. Located in the thriving Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area, our business model gives us the opportunity to provide a diverse array of career opportunities and paths which include live operations, processing facilities, corporate functions and support offices. At Butterball, we aim to provide great-tasting foods that bring people together and inspire meaningful moments with the people who matter most.
Over the course of 10-12 weeks, as the Community Engagement Intern, you'll work in our HQ office located in Garner, NC. The Community Engagement Intern role is meant to provide an encompassing experience through a variety of projects that support Butterball's philanthropic platform, Our Shared Table. You'll gain hands-on experience in community relations, corporate philanthropy, employee engagement, communications, and storytelling while helping showcase Butterball's impact in the communities where our team members live and work.
The program's primary objective is to grow future leaders by providing professional development and a series of assignments that aligns with professional interest within the processing and manufacturing industry.
What you'll do:
  • Support community engagement initiatives, volunteer programs, charitable giving efforts, and nonprofit partnerships that advance the goals of Our Shared Table.

  • Develop content and storytelling materials for internal and external communication channels, including articles, presentations, and other promotional resources.

  • Assist with employee engagement campaigns that promote participation in volunteer and giving initiatives.

  • Track engagement metrics, maintain reporting tools, and support the development of impact summaries and leadership presentations.

  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on community engagement, corporate philanthropy, and social responsibility best practices.

  • Support special projects, including long-term initiatives focused on product donations, volunteerism, and the Butterball Helping Hands Fund.

  • Rising seniors pursuing a Bachelor's degree, or students pursuing a Master's degree, in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, Business, Corporate Social Responsibility, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of December 2027 through June 2029.

  • All participants in this program are required to have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Copilot, is preferred.

  • Interest in community engagement, philanthropy, employee engagement, and corporate social responsibility.

  • Experience with social media content creation, event planning, photography, video editing, Canva, or related creative tools is preferred.
