Job description

Work Objective Under direct supervision, the purpose of the internship is to receive on-the-job exposure and experience to learn how to perform a variety of duties for a specified department. The City of Marco Island is offering an opportunity for a part-time summer job to students. The City is budgetarily limited to 6 summer intern positions, pertaining to light maintenance and clerical work.

The first 6 approved applicants will be placed in a position. Summer Intern positions will begin on June 8, 2026. Requirements for the Program are as follows: Students must be age 16 before 08/01/26 Direct Deposit Valid State of Florida Driver's License or Picture ID Applicants must provide sufficient documentation for completion of the I-9 form (i.e

copy of original social security card, US passport, Original or certified copy of birth certificate.) All orientation paperwork must be completed on the first day of work or the applicant will become ineligible for a summer intern position. All summer interns will clock in and clock out of the time and labor tracking system Cell phones may only be used in case of emergency Examples of Essential Functions The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class

The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position. The position will provide temporary, summer work opportunity to students to acquaint them with government and to provide work experiences which can contribute to the development of good work behaviors and future job success. Work is performed under close supervision.

Students assigned to this classification may perform both routine duties and non-routine support duties as the nature of the area of work and studies assigned. Emphasis is placed on providing varied, meaningful learning experiences to the student, while at the same time providing work assistance to the City. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Students will perform field or office work. Students will work approximately 20 hours per week and will be placed in various departments throughout the city. The rate of pay is $14.00/hr
