Job description

Information Technology Intern (2026 Summer)

Brown Gibbons Lang & Company (BGL) offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to gain hands-on experience and develop a strong foundation in corporate information technology.

This position will be on site in our Cleveland office and will provide front-line support to end users both in person and remotely. The IT Intern will serve as the first point of contact for technical issues, ensuring timely and effective problem resolution for users across all BGL offices.

Compensation & Duration

This is a paid, internship with working hours of Monday thru Friday 9am - 5pm during the 2026 summer academic break (May - August). The pay rate is $25.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and support workstations for end users.
  • Provide technical support for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, peripherals, printers, and other IT hardware and software.
  • Maintain internal inventory of IT equipment, including peripherals and computers.
  • Assist with help desk calls, ticket triage, and scheduling.
  • Create and maintain internal technical documentation, manuals, and IT procedures within the internal wiki.
  • Support small to medium IT projects and implementations.
  • Provide remote support to users in other BGL offices as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems.
  • Entry-level position - prior IT experience, helpful but not required.
  • Strong technical aptitude and enthusiasm for learning new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness and customer service orientation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday (9am - 5pm) during the 2026 summer academic break in our Cleveland office.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN).
  • Experience with Windows deployment or imaging tools.
  • Familiarity with help desk or ticketing systems (e.g., ManageEngine, ServiceNow, or similar).
  • Interest in cybersecurity and data protection best practices.
  • Experience with remote support tools (e.g., Quick Assist, Teams, or AnyDesk).

Work Environment

The IT Intern will work closely with the firm's IT team, which supports all BGL offices nationwide. This is a collaborative, fast-paced environment that values professionalism, initiative, and continuous learning. Interns are treated as contributing members of the team and are given opportunities to take ownership of tasks and small projects.

Additional Requirements

  • Must maintain confidentiality of all firm and client information and adhere to internal IT security and compliance policies.
  • Must comply with all information security and acceptable use policies, including data handling and confidentiality standards.
  • Must be able to lift and move computer hardware, monitors, and related IT equipment as part of daily responsibilities.
