Position Summary:


As a key member of the warehouse operations team at First Star Safety, the Construction Warehouse Laborer plays a hands-on role in supporting our construction and traffic control operations. This position involves physical labor, organization, and coordination in both the warehouse and outdoor storage yard. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to the day-to-day functions that keep our job sites supplied and running efficiently.
Seasonal summer help will be considered for this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with OUPS needs for projects: You will act as the critical communication link between excavators (contractors, homeowners) and utility companies. Your primary goal is to prevent dangerous and costly damage to underground infrastructure by accurately processing dig notification tickets and managing utility markings.
  • Assemble, install, and tear down construction signage according to project requirements and ODOT standards
  • Load and unload trucks for daily project deployments and returns
  • Maintain organized storage of equipment and signage in the yard and warehouse
  • Support inventory control by processing incoming shipments and tracking outgoing equipment
  • Assist walk-in clients with orders and material pickups
  • Work closely with Warehouse Manager and Project Managers to stage materials and other needs for jobs
  • Keep yard and warehouse clean, safe, and well-organized, performing routine upkeep as needed
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse tools and equipment safely and responsibly
  • Contribute to warehouse and yard safety by following protocols and identifying hazards
  • Participate in occasional local deliveries or on-site support
  • Perform additional duties and special projects to ensure operations run smoothly

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of warehousing or general labor experience preferred
  • Experience with sign handling, traffic control equipment, or construction yard duties is a plus
  • Familiarity with the ODOT Manual and traffic control signage is a bonus
  • Previous experience with OUPS is a plus
  • Understanding of warehouse processes and basic inventory systems
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Basic computer and communication skills
  • Must be reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Willingness to work extended or flexible hours as needed

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Forklift Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform tasks involving bending, lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods
  • Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Compliance with First Star Safety’s Substance Abuse Prevention Policy is required
  • Post-offer/pre-employment drug screening may be required
