Jekyll Island is dedicated to maintaining the delicate balance between nature and humankind through conservation, education, and preservation. Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island, and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist.
Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, Campground Guest Service personnel greet guests at the Jekyll Island Campground, answers questions, and provide information. Operates point-of-sale system for retail sales and reservations system. Ensures guest satisfaction through a high level of customer service performance. *This regular part-time position is scheduled up to 30 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Description:
  • Greets guests and campground visitors courteously and professionally, providing information and campground services as needed. Answers phones promptly, efficiently, and in a friendly manner.
  • Operates the campground office, including handling sales, stocking, merchandising, making reservations, and assigning campsites. Operates the point-of-sale system and cash register.
  • Promotes campground services and facilities, as well as other Jekyll Island Authority amenities such as the Sea Turtle Center, Mini Golf, Bike Rental, Golf, Summer Waves, etc.
  • Resolves minor guest complaints to the satisfaction of the customer and informs the manager of major problems, complaints, disturbances, or unhappy guests.
  • Completes daily paperwork, including balancing the cash drawer, documenting adjustments, and processing refunds.
  • Operates and drives motorized vehicles as assigned.
  • Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress. Applies and follows organizational policies and procedures.
  • Keeps the campground office, store, and guest areas neat, clean, and tidy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to count money and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Credit, criminal, and MVR background checks are required.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays and occasional early evenings.
  • Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance during scheduled hours required.
Physical Activities/ Working Conditions Requirements:
  • Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent walking, standing, reaching, grasping, and using repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions.
  • Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday will be spent crouching and/or stooping, kneeling.
  • Less than 25% of the day is spent climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying, crouching and/or stooping, and kneeling.
  • Must have visual abilities to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe information, use computers, read extensively, and operate motor vehicles.
  • Sensory abilities required include vision, feeling, and touching, with more than 50% of the day spent talking and hearing.
  • Most work will be performed within an indoor office environment. However, work may be occasionally conducted in adverse environmental conditions.
  • The noise level is considered normal.
