Job Summary/Basic Function
-Assist with recruitment, interview, selection and training of summer staff.
-Participate in regular staff meetings.
-Maintain regular communication with other staff in Residence Life to assist with summer operations
.-Work collaboratively with conference assistant staff.
-Conduct routine building inspections and ensure that buildings comply with safety/health standards. Oversee the completion of work order requisitions and capital repair projects.
-Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution for resident students and conference guests.
-Participate in an on-call rotation schedule, with shifts beginning at 4:30PM each evening and ending at 8:00AM following morning except for weekends where shifts will run from 4:30PM Friday until 8:00AM Monday.
-Proactively manage expense accounts for summer programming and RHIC supplies; procure goods and services in a fiscally responsible manner and in compliance with University policies and State laws.
-Hall Directors will be responsible for at least one other administrative area, including, but not limited to: summer conferences, RHIC supervisor, training, etc.
-Key accountabilities also include: leadership, guest service, and administrative duties in the main office.
-Responsible for job site motivation and supervision of RHIC. Assist in determining job priority, inventory of supplies, administrative paperwork, and signing out of primary keys of buildings where work is being completed.
-File necessary work orders as reported by conference assistants, conference guests, RHIC employees, etc.
-Review of completed work and appropriate feedback to staff.
-Other duties as assigned by supervising professional staff member or the Director.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Admission to the College Student Development and Administration Program at Shepherd University
  • Current Graduate Hall Director
  • This position is responsible for personnel, programmatic, and facility resource management associated with creating and maintaining a safe, healthy living environment for resident students which supports the University's learning mission. Integral responsibilities include the overall daily operations of assigned residence hall, including summer operations (conference services and residence hall improvements).
  • This position reports directly to full time Residence Life staff member, and also works collaboratively with others in Residence Life to provide student and guest friendly services.
  • Evening and weekend hours are required. This is a live-in, three-month, 25 hour per week position and does not include benefits.
  • As part of your integral job responsibility, you will be required to live on-campus in order to provide on-call and emergency coverage and to serve as a visible, positive role model to our community of residents.
  • Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
