Job description

Looking for a company that values your skills, respects your contributions, and gives you the tools to thrive?

With more than 145 years as a family-owned business, we've built a reputation as one of the best mechanical and fire protection contractors in the country. We pride ourselves on delivering unmatched quality and innovation while providing you with job stability, opportunities for career progression, and support. We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer located in Fond du Lac, WI.

How You Will Contribute

If you enjoy solving business challenges through technology, leading technical direction, and remaining hands-on in software development, this is the opportunity for you. The Lead Software Engineer serves as both a technical leader and full stack developer, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting business applications, APIs, integrations, and databases that drive operational efficiency across the organization.

In this role, you will define application architecture, establish development standards, and guide the technical direction of software initiatives while actively contributing to solution design, development, testing, deployment, and support. Partner with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that meet business needs. Additionally, you will also mentor developers, lead technical decision-making, and foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Success in this role is measured by the delivery of high-quality software solutions, strong technical leadership, and the implementation of processes and technologies that improve team productivity and business outcomes.

What You Need to Qualify

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and 7 years of experience developing full stack software solutions, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership role. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are required. While not mandatory, we highly value candidates with proficiency in the following technologies: C#, .NET Core, Angular, SQL, Typescript, and JavaScript.  Experience with modern software architecture, cloud technologies, API development, AI-assisted development tools, and enterprise system integrations will also contribute to suitability for the role.
