Job description

JOB SUMMARY 

In this position the locker room attendant is to keep the locker room clean and supplied with all the necessary amenities. Greet and assist members during their visit to the locker room, report any defect and watch for any unusual activity inside the locker room. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Service the members needs with genuine care 
  • Maintain the coffee station and the entire locker room in a clean and pristine manner 
  • Ensure all amenities work well, supplies are fully stocked and readily available (towel and vanity supplies included) 
  • Make sure fruit and snack basket are always full
  • Wipe down counters, wash cutting boards and knife with detergent after each use
  • Wipe down and straighten benches 
  • Walk continuously down the isles to check for blinds proper alignment 
  • Make sure telephones are wiped and disinfected daily, also check for pencil and paper in each telephone station
  • Report and check for any mildew stains beneath soap dispenser, shower curtains and general wet area
  • Check for toilet paper and toilet seat covers in each stall, make sure area is clean and disinfected at all times 
  • Contribute to the overall security of the locker room and safety of the members
  • Shoe shining and performing other duties and task as needed
  • Promote locker rental advantages to new and existing members
  • Ensure that laundry bags don’t have any holes or defects prior sending them down to the laundry for washing. Each laundry bag must be properly logged in and out any discrepancy between incoming and outgoing bags must be immediately reported to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Members with multiple bags must have an alphabetical letter (A, B, C) etched in their laundry bags, to identify which bag was sent out and which one was received. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Positive and friendly attitude 
  • Preferably with prior customer service experience 
  • Eye for cleanliness-housekeeping experience 
  • Willingness to stand and walk for extended period of times 


PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:

  • Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures. Summer temperatures outside can get above 95 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 months of year. For 2 months of year, low temperatures can get below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Must be able to swim.
  • Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
  • Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
  • Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
