Job description

About Us:
RunBuggy is the most technically advanced automotive logistics platform on the market. Period.
Backed by Porsche Ventures and Hearst Ventures, RunBuggy is transforming the way cars move. Our cutting-edge technology is trusted by some of the largest OEMs, captive finance companies, and automotive lenders in the world to streamline vehicle transportation at scale.
RunBuggy's end-to-end platform connects car shippers and haulers in real time - eliminating the friction of traditional load boards and costly custom software. For shippers, RunBuggy integrates directly into existing management systems, reducing transportation costs and accelerating delivery timelines. For transporters, we offer a smarter, more profitable way to find, accept, and manage loads - all from a single app.
Since launching in 2019, RunBuggy has grown to over 190 team members, facilitated the movement of hundreds of thousands of vehicles, and attracted tens of thousands of transporters across the U.S.
We're not just building a better logistics platform - we're redefining the future of automotive transportation.
About the Role:
The Finance & Accounting Summer Intern will partner with the Controller and Accounting Manager to identify, design, and implement process improvements across RunBuggy's month-end close, with a particular focus on applying AI tools and automation to recurring, manual finance workflows.
Working across the Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Record-to-Report (R2R) workstreams, the intern will spend the first phase of the internship embedded in the Close cycle to deeply understand each task with duties such as pulling data, preparing journal entries, building reconciliations, and supporting the management reporting package preparation.
The second phase will be focused on building tangible improvements that reduce close time, eliminate repetitive work, and improve data quality.
Specific focus areas may include: applying AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot) to draft variance commentary, generating reconciliation narratives, building automations and integrations to eliminate manual workflows, documenting and templating recurring journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations so they can be executed faster and with fewer errors, and contributing structured ideas to drive efficiencies with the goal of measurably shortening the close cycle. Additionally, the intern will be tasked to leverage these learnings to drive operational efficiency in areas including cash flow optimization, AR policy development and vendor payables.
The internship is designed to give a current accounting or finance student real exposure to a corporate Close at a venture-backed technology company.
The internship runs approximately 10-12 weeks, with a target start date in late May to early June 2026. This is a flexible role with hours between 8am and 5pm, located on-site in Tempe, AZ.
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Assist with bank and payment processor reconciliations including identifying and researching reconciling items and process improvements.
  • Support preparation of recurring journal entries, developing templates and standardizing processes leveraging AI tools.
  • Refine current processes for processing vendor bills by leveraging AI features available in tools such as Ramp and NetSuite.
  • Prepare GL account reconciliations leveraging AI tools to standardize the preparation and review processes.
  • Assist with the monthly AR review using AI tools and process improvements to drive operational efficiencies in the collections process and risk management.
  • Help compile inputs for the monthly management reporting package distributed to leadership and investors. Help to streamline the preparation process using AI tools.
  • Contribute to our close acceleration initiative by identifying repeatable, low-value tasks that can be templated, automated, or eliminated; build or refresh Excel templates and reconciliation workbooks.
  • Other projects and tasks that allow for additional learning opportunities.

Requirements
What You Bring to the Team by Way of Skills and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; rising junior, senior, or graduate student preferred.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA; coursework in financial accounting and intermediate accounting completed.
  • Plan to sit for the CPA exam preferred.
  • Experience with BI/reporting or AI tools a plus.
  • Passionate about leveraging AI to create improved efficiencies.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Clear and professional phone and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a willingness to learn best practices and processes.
  • Prior coursework or internship exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite a plus), expense management platforms (Ramp), payroll systems (Paylocity), or payment processors (Stripe) preferred.
  • Interest in technology, marketplace, automotive, or logistics businesses a plus.

Candidates that include a cover letter explaining how they meet the job requirements will receive preference in the review process.
What is in it for You and Why you Should Apply:
  • Market competitive pay based on education, experience, and location; this is a paid internship.
  • Employee wellness program with incentives.
  • Employee rewards, discounts, and recognition programs.
