Job description

     Position / Title: T3-EL Before/After School Enrichment/Support Bargaining Unit:    NON-UNION Department/Location: Multilingual/Multicultural Education Dept. Work Days: 60 Reports To: Building Principal JD Revision Date: 04/14/2025 Supervises: N/A       
Function / Position Summary
To provide before and after-school enrichment and support for Multilingual Learner (ML) students, focusing on language acquisition across the four domains-reading, writing, listening, and speaking-while aligning with the WIDA English/Spanish Language Development Standards across various content areas. The teacher must possess strong interpersonal skills and be willing to collaborate and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Develop a Title III enrichment/support proposal with the principal and MME staff in the assigned building.

  • Use data from State Standardized assessments, formative assessments, Biliteracy Trajectory, iReady, and/or other measures available in MyDataZone or Infinite Campus to identify Multilingual Learner students requiring additional enrichment/support opportunities 

  • Coordinate a schedule with the school principal and other staff, to provide before/after school services to the identified ML students within the MME Department guidelines that meet the areas of growth/development for the students.

  • Provide explicit, research-based culturally and linguistically appropriate instructional strategies to small groups of identified EL students based on the targeted areas in the proposal.

  • Plan for and guide the teaching and learning process toward the attainment or progress of School Improvement Plans (SIP) and curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for enrichment/support lessons and projects.

  • Maintain and submit required (pre and post) Title III class profile data on individual student progress and record/disseminate data accordingly for interim reports, report cards, and/or other purposes as deemed necessary by the MME Department or district.

  • Collaborate and communicate ML student progress with building administration, colleagues, students, and/or parents frequently.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • A Professional Educator License with Bilingual and/or ESL endorsement or Provisional Educator License is required.
Experience / Knowledge
  • Possess extensive knowledge and teaching experience with Multilingual Learners in the MME Department of U-46, along with a solid understanding of the second language acquisition process.

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Illinois Learning Standards and the WIDA Language Development Standards.

  • Knowledge of and experience with the U-46 Curricula and Instructional Practices as deemed appropriate for the targeted areas of support.

Physical Demands
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push objects up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
Terms of Employment
  • This is an Non-union collective bargaining position.
  • Hourly Rate $32.85
