Job description

Join our dedicated team at HKC Rockland County working in grounds keeping and maintenance for our 105-acre property supporting a worthy mission. You are part of our grounds crew in this full time, year-round maintenance technician position.

  • Pay: $22 to 25 per hour
  • Hours: Mon - Fri 7:30am - 4:00pm (hours may change when camp is in session)

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GROUNDS CREW MEMBER
As a maintenance crew member, you play an essential role in providing our campers with a safe environment, so they are able to have an amazing summer experience. You will be trained to safely operate any necessary grounds keeping equipment, including mowers, leaf blowers, and weed whackers. We take the time to train you so you can execute to our standards and expectations (including for OSHA 30 & CPO certification).
When needed, you assist with minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing work anytime our buildings are in need of repair. While maintaining our grounds and facilities, you will also conduct a variety of janitorial tasks such as cleaning and restocking bathrooms. You remove any debris and trash you spot and ensure it's disposed of properly.
QUALIFICATIONS
We're seeking capable and motivated people to be maintenance technicians on our Grounds Crew who are able to:
  • Safely operate grounds keeping and heavy equipment such as commercial mowers, tractors, backhoes, chainsaws, leaf blowers, trimmers, etc.
  • Willingly take on such tasks as debris removal, trash pick-up, and janitorial work to ensure the cleanliness of grounds and facilities.
  • Assist in the performance of minor electrical, carpentry and plumbing work needed for the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.
  • Properly maintain equipment and machinery

If you have a valid driver's license, are safety forward, have the ability to bend, walk and lift up to 50 pounds this may be the job for you. We're looking for people who enjoy being part of a team and the camaraderie that goes with it.
Hands on experience in electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry is a plus.

Home to 11 independently run JCC day camps, the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is a small non-profit that manages and operates three facilities located in Long Island, Rockland County and Staten Island.
Our MISSION is to enhance the camp experience and provide a safe environment for the campers and counselors who call our grounds home, which are thousands - on any given summer day we welcome around 2000 campers and camp staff at each HKC site.
