Harcum College, a progressive, independent, associate degree granting college in Bryn Mawr, PA, has an immediate opening for a seasonal   TRiO Upward Bound  Science Lab Instructor 

Summer, Part-time contract  $1,080,   ( $45/hour ) 

Dates of Summer Program:  Monday, June 29th - July 30, 2026

Dates of Summer Program:  June 29th - July 30, 2026

  • Tuesday, June 24, 2 hour Teacher Orientation Session (Time TBA) 
  • Instruction Hours:  Tues/Thurs or Mon/Wednesdays (10:00 am - 1:00 pm)  
  • Academic Team Meetings (5 Total): Thursdays, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm 

Harcum College’s TRIO Upward Bound (HCub) is one of Philadelphia’s leading college access initiatives. HCub’s mission is to promote the college graduation of low income, first generation students. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create syllabi and fun, creative, team-oriented learning activities within course standards,
  • Subject areas may include: Biology, Chemistry, Physical/Earth Science, Physics, Elective Science Coursework, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Astronomy.
  • Submit grades, track student progress, and make recommendations for necessary services
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students and HCub staff
  • Develop fun projects to facilitate curiosity, critical thinking, “play” and reinforce main concepts 
  • Engage students in active participation during all sessions. Reinforce codes of conduct set forth by program  (such as no phones in class, etc.) 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
  • Experience teaching high school-aged students
  • Certification preferred 
  • Desire to work with the targeted Upward Bound population 
  • A genuine passion for engaging students in the richness of the sciences
