Job description

  • Summer Camp Culinary Lead (Seasonal: Mayโ€“August 2026)

  • Looking for a summer thatโ€™s more than just a job? Join our culinary team and help fuel the joy of camp life! Weโ€™re hiring a Culinary Lead to support day-to-day operations in our summer camp kitchens across the USA. This role is all about teamwork, leadership, and creating meals that make campers and staff feel at home โ€” no matter their dietary needs.
This is a full-time seasonal position (Mayโ€“August 2026), serving up to 800 guests daily.

    What Youโ€™ll Do

    • Lead daily kitchen operations
โ€” from prep to service, ensuring workflow is smooth, safe, and efficient.
    • Support special dietary needs by developing gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
    • Set the standard by maintaining excellent sanitation, cleanliness, and safety across all kitchen areas.
    • Create consistency with standardized recipes and presentation techniques.
    • Manage resources wisely โ€” exercise portion control, monitor quality, and minimize food costs.
    • Serve with purpose by coordinating meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and special events) for up to 800 campers and staff daily.
    • Lead and motivate your team, supervising and delegating alongside the Food Service Director.
    • Keep things fresh โ€” monitor ingredients, track logs, and stay ahead of tasks.
    • Bring the camp spirit โ€” interact with campers and staff with a positive, welcoming attitude.
    • Collaborate with Hamsa Cooking management to create memorable food experiences.

  • What Weโ€™re Looking For

    • Experienced culinary professional (large-scale cooking or camp experience a plus).
    • Knowledge of food safety, storage, prep, and production systems.
    • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
    • Detail-oriented with a passion for high-quality, inclusive food.
    • Comfortable in fast-paced kitchen environments (lifting up to 50 lbs, hot grills, cold storage).
    • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to making summer unforgettable for campers and staff.

  • Why Join Us?

    • Spend the summer in a dynamic, supportive camp setting.
    • Be part of a team that values creativity, efficiency, and fun.
    • Gain experience in high-volume food service while making a real impact.
    • Work where every meal is part of the camp experience โ€” not just another service.
  • Apply today to join our summer culinary crew!
ย Help us serve up not just meals, but memories.
Qualifications:
  • Must pass a background check to work around kids in the USA.
  • A minimum of 5 years culinary experience (summer camp experience preferred).

  • Must be comfortable lifting up to 50 lbsย
  • Must be able to be in extreme cold (Cooler, Freezer etc)
  • Must be comfortable experience hot temperatures such as being infront of a grill for long periods of time
  • Must have the ability to produce large quantities and delegate production of food.
  • Knowledge of food storage, prep, cost and labor systems.
  • Passion for food and cooking techniques.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
