Description

Position Summary

The Cook prepares, cooks, and serves daily meals. Provide quality customer service experience for program participants, staff, and guest.


Essential Functions

  1. Follow strict documentation requirements for food storage, inventory, temperatures, cleaning, sanitation, and food disposal in compliance with Job Corps Policy and food service health and safety guidelines. Document and report discrepancies to supervisor.
  2. Support and maintain a safe, congenial teamwork environment.
  3. Observe kitchen and dining areas, kitchen utensils, supplies, and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met and maintained. Report discrepancies to Supervisor.
  4. Maintain accountability for knives and cutting tools.
  5. Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized work areas. Participate in daily general cleaning.
  6. Other duties as assigned providing food service department support.
  7. Model positive behavior and a high level of conflict resolution skills at all times.
  8. Promote a harassment-free environment.
  9. Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and corporate training.
  10. Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student's personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Minimum

High school diploma or equivalent and two years' experience working in food service field. Valid ServSafe Food Handler certification required. Knowledge of institutional/school nutrition guidelines and experience in large scale meal preparation. Full knowledge and practice of food safety, storage, and inspection requirements.


Preferred

Culinary Arts Certification; two years food preparation experience.
