Job description

Job Title: Summer Bakery Chef
FLSA Status: Hourly/ non-exempt
Salary: $12 - $15 per hour
Status: Part Time
Reports to: Camp Fitch Food Service Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Assists the Food Service Director in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals served to campers, guests, and staff for weekend programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Prepare Baked Goods for 10 weeks of Summer Camp.
  2. Assist the Head Chef in the creation of the menu.
  3. Prepare and cook food as the menu indicates including the preparation of special dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.
  4. Assist with the managing of food costs in relation to established budget and utilizes leftover foods in meal preparations as appropriate to minimize waste.
  5. Help maintain clean and safe kitchen work areas, stockroom with accurate inventory, freezer, refrigerator, dining room, and loading dock in accordance with State Health regulations.
  6. Practice personal hygiene and cleanliness in handling food in accordance with State Health regulations.
  7. Store food and leftovers at proper temperature with appropriate labeling.
  8. Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all participants and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.

  1. Two years of experience in food preparation.
  2. Current Safe Serve Certification.

    of the community.
  6. Obtain required training within 90 days: New Staff Orientation, CPR/FA, Child Abuse Prevention, Blood Borne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, and Y Leader.
