Summer Student Research Assistant Opportunity

Job Description:

Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking 2 undergraduate student research assistants (1 Mercer U, 1 Fort Valley State) to participate in a summer research project focused on farmer mental health education and evaluation in agricultural communities.

Project activities include:
Attending farmer mental health training sessions
Conducting field observations
Assisting with interviews and qualitative research
Survey development and Qualtrics programming
Cognitive interview support
Creating a final research poster

Details:
Approximately 150 hours total with an estimated pay of $10/hour
Summer 2026 project period (June-July)
Some project-related travel required, travel reimbursement available.
Open to students interested in public health, rural health, psychology, agriculture, evaluation, or social science research

Students will work directly with Dr. Anne Montgomery at Mercer University School of Medicine as part of a USDA Southern SARE-funded project.

Must be a current Mercer University student in good standing.

Compensation:

  • Approximately 150 hours with an estimated pay of $10/hour

  • Travel expenses to events may be reimbursed with prior approval.

  • If the stipend is accepted, students will be required to submit tax documentation to the MUSM financial office.
