Geospace is currently seeking an Engineering Software Intern with some knowledge of C++, C#, Network Communication, .NET API, SQL, or embedded C to join our Software/Firmware Application Development team for a summer internship. The role requires a self-starting individual with a desire to use junior/senior level software skills. Tasks could include software design, coding, database access or software testing to develop a strong understanding of process flow.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full product development life cycle, from conception to general availability with support for manufacturability. You should be open to learning Agile methodologies and the use of Visual Studio, AI, Machine Learning or the use of a Data Lake.

Duties:

  • Learn about maintaining and upgrading the existing company software, used to control devices, testing and tools for customer use after deployment.
  • Assist with the end-to-end life cycle for the production of software and applications.
  • Work with management, hardware engineering groups, other development team members, and customer input, to understand and identify potential features and solve issues.
  • Learn guiding principles of analysis, development, and deployment of software.
  • Track progress through the software lifecycle.
  • Exploring new technologies such as implementation of a Data Lake or the use of AI to extract meaningful data from the repository.

Students must be enrolled in a STEM college degree, preferably electrical engineering, computer science, or mechanical engineering or other closely related field.

The following qualifications are desired, not required:

  • Familiarity with C++/C#/.Net.
  • Responsive design principles.
  • Knowledge of GUI features for displaying large numbers of components and generation of reports.
  • Graphing libraries and Time-series data analytic displays.
  • An understanding of Operational UI design and user experiences for SaaS applications.
  • Software and product lifecycle management awareness.
  • A desire to learn new technologies and UX methodologies.
  • Good communication skills - ability to understand work documents, write effectively, and communicate information clearly to coworkers in the English language.
