Job Description:

Parsons is seeking motivated engineering students with an interest in bridge structures for our Summer 2027 internship program. In this role, you will gain exposure to the production of drawings and calculations for the design of highway and rail bridge structures.The position is located downtown Chicago, close to public transportation and the Metra commuter rail stations.

Applicants should include transcripts, a brief cover letter outlining your main areas of interest within civil engineering, and what skills and experiences you hope to gain through summer employment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Use CAD to prepare engineering plans, sections and details starting from sketches and other general design information.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Become familiar with various standards and codes. Apply codes to check compliance of designs with applicable criteria.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Must be enrolled in an Civil Engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed 3+ year of studies with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Must have completed courses such as structural analysis, steel or concrete design, geotechnical engineering, etc.


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Enrolled or plan to enroll in graduate studies in the field of Structural Engineering at an accredited college or university
  • Proficient in CAD software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
