School Age Assistant Teacher (West Campus)
Lititz Christian School is a Christ-centered, family-oriented environment where teachers and staff are valued, supported, and equipped to educate and care for the children entrusted to us. The Before & After School Assistant Teacher provides a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-age children before and after the school day. This position partners with the School Age Director and Administration to provide quality programming, maintain compliance with DHS licensing regulations, and foster positive relationships with children and families.
Typical Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday
  • Morning Shift: 6:45 AM - 9:00 AM
  • Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Additional hours may be available on school holidays, in-service days, summer camp, and as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent education plus 2 years of documented childcare experience OR meet one of the following:
  • Current CDA Certificate (or actively working toward a CDA or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with approved Temporary Waiver from ACSI)
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in a related field
  • Have a minimum of 2,500 documented childcare hours (or equivalent education coursework completed)
  • Maintain current background clearances (FBI fingerprinting, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, and NSOR)
  • Maintain current Pediatric First Aid/CPR and Mandated Reporter certification
  • Complete a TB test and physical upon hire and a physical every two years thereafter
  • Complete all training required by DHS, ACSI, and Keystone STARS
  • Be mentally and physically capable of supervising and caring for children independently in a classroom setting
  • Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50 lbs
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
  • Have dependable transportation
  • Be available to work the assigned split shift schedule and additional hours as needed during school breaks, in-service days, summer camp, or special events.

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism at all times
  • Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct's Statement of Commitment

Responsibilities:
Including, but not limited to:
  • Supervise and actively engage school-age children before and after school.
  • Maintain required teacher-to-child ratios at all times.
  • Ensure children's safety in classrooms, playgrounds, school facilities, and during transitions.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests.
  • Provide a supervised environment for homework completion when appropriate.
  • Assist with serving snacks (and meals on full-day programs) while following all DHS food service and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Complete required cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting procedures.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and documentation, including Brightwheel entries, incident reports, and behavior reports as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with parents and families each day.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, classroom staff, and Administration.
  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and occasional family/school events.
  • Assist with school holiday programs, in-service days, and summer camp as assigned.
  • Safely drive school vans for transportation to and from local schools and field trips, if approved and authorized by the Director.
  • Maintain a professional self-image and reflect the values of Lititz Christian School at all times.
