Job Purpose

Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and associated electrical and electrical controls. Also, will support a wide variety of other activities such as repairs: mechanical, cleaning, machine maintenance, water treatment, etc. to ensure the facility is tidy and functional.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Drawings or verbal instruction to plan equipment repair and modification needs.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose the nature of the problem, perform a variety of electrical tests, disassemble equipment, replace defective parts or connections, and reassemble and test.
  • Knowledge and ability to trouble shoot PLC’s and USD
  • Install and modify equipment in accordance with code and process requirements, pull wires, bend conduit and make connections, build equipment and ensure power distribution is balanced for proper and reliable operation. Prepare and design electrical, air, and gas distribution lines for new equipment installation.
  • Redesign circuits as necessary, modify or prepare wiring diagrams to document changes.
  • Test and tear down equipment and replace defective parts and component units such as motors, clutches, gear boxes, belts, hoses or controls and crane repairs.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities, check equipment function and operation, and recommend required maintenance action.
  • Direct helpers on repair projects.
  • Ability to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring equipment on Plant and product systems.
  • Assist in training departmental employees.
  • Repair equipment and structures.
  • Specify material necessary for the completion of projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training within Industrial Manufacturing, Electrical, Welding, Tradesman ship, or Military education preferred.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance worker in a manufacturing setting.
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, welding, and Industrial Electrical, and Mechanical experience a plus
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools.
  • Previous experience operating forklift and overhead crane, an industrial setting preferred.
  • Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Communication skills – written, verbal; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, management, and vendors.

  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve.

Working conditions

  • This job operates in all areas of the plant: including and not limited to production floor, offices, warehouse, storerooms, outdoor work, etc.
  • Regularly lifting, traveling up and down stairs, sitting, squatting and bending in various positions - traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the work day.
  • Daily exposed to noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Physical exertion is required.
  • Requires work in some confined space areas.
  • Requires work in high areas (greater than 4 feet above ground level) of the plant.
  • Requires work in a non-air-conditioned area during the summer months.
  • Requires work outside during all seasons.
  • Vision protection, metatarsal steel-toed shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, and high visibility clothing is required.

Physical requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit or stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands.
  • Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Able to get in and out of confined space areas.
  • Able to bend, operate equipment, and climb to high areas of the plant.
  • This position requires exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly.
