Job Description

The Summer Camp Counselor supports the daily operations of College for Kids by providing supervision, encouragement, and a safe, engaging environment for youth participants. Counselors work directly with campers and instructors to ensure a positive camp experience. Work is performed on the WNC Carson City campus. Counselors may work indoors and outdoors and should be prepared for active, fast-paced days.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor campers during classes, transitions, breaks, and activities

  • Serve as a positive role model and maintain a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere

  • Assist instructors with classroom setup, materials, and activity facilitation as needed

  • Enforce camp rules and behavioral expectations consistently and respectfully

  • Communicate camper concerns or incidents promptly to program staff

  • Support check-in and check-out procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned by program staff

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must pass a background check prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
