Assistant Director, Software Engineering

Are you passionate about leading engineering teams, architecting modern investment technology platforms, and delivering scalable applications and data solutions that drive business value? We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to provide technical direction, people leadership, and architectural oversight for the Public Investments technology platform.

In this role, you will lead a team of software and data engineers while owning the technical strategy, architecture, and delivery approach across web applications, APIs, and data platforms. You will partner closely with Product Management, Enterprise Architecture, and investment technology stakeholders to build secure, reliable, and scalable solutions that support investment management operations and decisionโ€‘making.

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Define and communicate the technical vision, architecture roadmap, and engineering strategy for Public Investments technology platforms.
  • Translate business objectives and product requirements into scalable technical solutions and implementation plans.
  • Frontโ€‘end applications (React)
  • Backend services and REST APIs
  • Data pipelines and warehouse platforms
  • Analytics and reporting solutions
  • Design and maintain clear integration patterns, API contracts, and data lineage standards.
  • Guide technical decomposition, prioritization, and sequencing of complex initiatives.
  • Establish engineering standards covering architecture, coding practices, testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Drive architectural reviews and technical governance decisions.
Software & Data Engineering Excellence
  • Lead development of modern, secure, and maintainable applications and services.

  • Identify and mitigate architectural, security, performance, and integration risks.
  • Lead incident response reviews, rootโ€‘cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure systems are designed for resiliency, recoverability, and operational sustainability.
  • Support secure development practices and compliance with enterprise technology standards.
  • Continuously improve platform stability and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as the direct manager and mentor for software and data engineers.
  • Lead performance management, coaching, career development, and succession planning activities.
