Season: Spring/Summer baseball season, including applicable offseason and summer responsibilities
Employment: Coaching position; compensation based on the Saint Albert coaching salary schedule and qualifications


Saint Albert Catholic Schools is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and student-centered Head High School Baseball Coach to lead our baseball program. You will lead the Saint Albert High School baseball program while developing student-athletes on and off the field. We are seeking a coach who values character, teamwork, accountability, discipline, sportsmanship, player development, and the mission of Saint Albert Catholic Schools.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate baseball coach who understands that high school athletics are an extension of the educational experience. The Head Baseball Coach will establish high expectations while creating a positive environment in which student-athletes can grow, compete, and develop.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the overall leader of the Saint Albert High School baseball program.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices, games, and team activities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive baseball program focused on player development and team success.
  • Teach fundamental baseball skills while developing players at all levels of the program.
  • Establish a positive, competitive, and respectful team culture.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes while emphasizing character, responsibility, academic success, and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with assistant coaches and other members of the Saint Albert activities staff.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents, coaches, administrators, opponents, and community partners.
  • Coordinate with the Activities Director regarding scheduling, transportation, facilities, equipment, game management, and other program needs.
  • Maintain and oversee baseball equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
  • Support and encourage participation in Saint Albert's overall activities program.
  • Follow all Saint Albert Catholic Schools policies and procedures, as well as applicable Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) rules and regulations.
  • Represent Saint Albert Catholic Schools in a professional manner at practices, competitions, school activities, and community events.
  • Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development, and school activities.
  • Assist with offseason player development, including summer baseball activities, camps, open gyms, and other development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Help build and support a strong baseball program from youth levels through high school, emphasizing participation, inclusivity, skill development, and long-term athlete development rather than an exclusive focus on elite competition.
  • Foster positive relationships with Saint Albert families, youth programs, and the broader school community.
Requirements:
  • Previous baseball coaching experience preferred.
  • Previous high school or collegiate baseball playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school personnel.
  • Commitment to developing student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
  • Ability to work effectively with a coaching staff and contribute positively to the Saint Albert activities department.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Saint Albert Catholic Schools.
  • Must meet all requirements established by Saint Albert Catholic Schools and the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
