Job description

Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is inviting applications for a General Psychiatrist with experience or training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to establish a full-time practice in the community of Peace River, Alberta.

  Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

       Establish and maintain a full-time community mental health-based practice within Peace River.

       Support psychiatric services (including Child & Adolescent psychiatry) beyond primary community of practice, which may include but not be limited to Area 1 & Area 2 North Zone communities experiencing a high need for mental health services; the support may be either in-person or utilizing Telehealth or another form of telecommunication.

       Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities.

       Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned.

The successful candidate is recruited for the community of Peace River, to improve access & stabilization of Psychiatry specialty services within Area 1 & Area 2.

The successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or opening their own practice. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Peace River has an active arts community, hosting many exhibitions and one of Alberta's most popular two-day music festivals - Peace Fest - which takes place each July, taking advantage of the long, warm summer nights. You will also find an indoor swimming pool, a hockey arena, several outdoor rinks, squash & racquetball courts, gymnasiums and numerous sports clubs within the community, to name a few.

An endless network of trails straddle town and can accommodate running, hiking, biking, exploring; those who wish to take things more leisurely or enjoy the river scenery may access the 8-kilometer paved path that runs along the river. Fishing, boating, and photography are popular river pursuits and guarantee a full supply of fresh air for all members of the family.

Qualifications & Experience:

We are seeking a Psychiatrist who is eligible for FRC(P) in General Psychiatry, to join a diverse Addictions & Mental Health team, in order to provide support to communities with a high need of mental health services.

Experience or training in Child & Adolescent psychiatry is required.
