Job Description

Currently seeking a School Aide for Staten Island Preparatory in Tottenville.

Address: 23 Summit Street Staten Island NY 10307

Role Description:

  • Part Time | Monday-Friday
  • Hours: 9 A.M - 2 P.M / 2:30 P.M
  • Non benefit role
  • 10 month program with a 30 day summer session
  • Responsibilities include: 
  • Under the direction of the Teacher/ Behavior Trainer, follow the daily activity schedule/lesson plans and support and guide the implementation of a student’s objectives as indicated in his/her IEP.

  • Provide direct care services to student as needed, including toileting, dressing and feeding, in an instructional manner so as to provide the basis of future independent student action.

  • Participate in the arrival and dismissal of student as needed.

  • Participate in activities outside the classroom when necessary (e.g. playground, field trips, gym etc.); interact with the student; and address the student’s safety and physical needs.

  • Understand the nature of the student’s disability and its impact on the student’s performance; be familiar with the student’s IEP objectives including the educational purpose and methodology; be familiar with the student’s medical alerts and EPOP (Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan)

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Candidates with experience working with students with disabilities are preferred.
  • HS Diploma required.
